What we collect, why, and how to reach us about it.

Cycling Watts Calculator is a set of free cycling calculators. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type into a calculator (power, weight, speed, and so on) are never sent to our servers or stored by us. This policy covers the small amount of information we do collect: basic site analytics, standard hosting logs, and anything you choose to send us directly, such as an email.
Calculator inputs. Never collected. Every calculator on this site is a client-side tool, so your inputs and results stay in your browser and are not transmitted to us.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4. It records which pages you view and where you came from, your approximate location (country and city level), and your device, browser and language. It also records simple interaction events, such as opening a calculator, pressing reset or switching units. Those events carry the calculator's name only, never the values you enter. Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses; the address is used to work out your approximate location and to protect the service.
Hosting logs. Our host, Vercel, handles each request to deliver the site and may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. We use these only to keep the site running and secure.
Emails you send us. If you email us (see Contact), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use this only to respond to you.
Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies in your browser. They hold a random identifier, not your name or email address.

Some browsers shorten these lifetimes for visitors who do not return, and you can delete them at any time. Separately, this site stores your light or dark theme preference in your browser's local storage. That preference stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Analytics data is used only to understand overall site usage and improve the calculators, for example by seeing which pages and calculators are used. In our Google Analytics settings, detailed event data is deleted after two months, and data tied to the random cookie identifier is deleted after 14 months. The 14 months restart each time the same browser returns. Aggregated reports, which do not identify individuals, are kept longer. Information you send by email is used only to respond to your query, feedback or bug report. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell or share it.
We do not use Google Analytics advertising features, Google signals or remarketing, and this site shows no advertising. If we add advertising in future, we will update this policy first and ask for consent where the law requires it.
Two third parties handle data from this site. Google provides Google Analytics and acts as our processor for it; its handling of data is covered by Google's privacy policy. Vercel hosts the site and is covered by Vercel's privacy policy. Our Google Analytics property is also linked to Google Search Console, which reports how the site appears in Google Search. That link does not collect anything extra from visitors.
You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site using Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by blocking analytics scripts with your browser or an ad blocker, or by deleting the cookies listed above.
Because we don't operate accounts, forms, or a database of personal information beyond emails you send us, there's little stored data to manage. If you'd like us to delete an email you previously sent us, or have any other question about data we may hold about you, email cyclingwattsapp@outlook.com and we'll take care of it.
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time as the site changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
